University of Miyazaki Summer Program

Program: I. “Learn about Japan and Miyazaki and University of Miyazaki”
: Japanese language, Japanese culture and laboratory research course
The Japanese language and Japanese culture classes are designed for students at any Japanese level. In addition to language training the program enables students to deepen their understanding of Japan by experiencing traditional culture such as tea
ceremony and taking part in visits to archaeological sites and other places of interest.
The laboratory research class is designed for undergraduate students who wish to progress to postgraduate level. In lab, English will be the main language of instruction. It will take the form of lectures in small student groups delivered by relevant experts from the university’s academic staff. The topics addressed will be customized in accordance with the applicants’ research interests. For details of research topics, please visit the UOM website. If less than quota, class may not to be offered.

Accommodation
Guest House: Guest house is located in Kiyotake campus where 5-10 minutes away by bus from Kibana campus.
Room: Single, Twin, Triple
*Depending on circumstances, we may not be able to guarantee preferred room type.
Students are responsible for:
- Health Insurance (about $35)
- Airfare (about $1,500 to $2,000)
- Program fee - $120,000 yen or about $1,000 USD to be paid upon arrival in cash
- Meals and other living expenses ($300)

- Visa if needed
- Independent travel
Program Eligibility
- are an IPFW full time student
- Have completed at least 2 full semesters on a chollege campus and one semester at IPFW
- have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- No previous Japanese experience required
- are currently in good standing academically and good discipline standing

- Language Requirement for semester or year program: at least 4 university level semesters
- Students on disciplinary probation during program period are not eligible.

Housing Information
- University approved dormitory with Japanese and other international students
- When possible, students will room with local students or may have a single room
- on-campus housing : 12,000 JPY/month (US $ 125/month)
- off-campus housing : 35,000JPY/month (US $ 360/month)
- Meal Plan: Students can eat at the university cafeteria or cook at the university dormitory.
- 20,000 JPY/month (US $ 210/month)
