Fluent in Russian, I lived and worked in Moscow for four years in the early 1990s. During my time in Moscow, I was a member of the Moscow Oratorio, performing Handel’s Messiah in the recently returned Anglican Cathedral for the first time since the Russian Revolution.
I returned to the US to complete an MA in library and information science and worked for many years as a librarian and Russian language teacher.
I recently completed a PhD program at The University of Galway, where I was an Irish Research Council fully-funded research PhD student. My research examined Edward Lear’s work in the context of evolutionary theory’s impact on questions of the self and empire’s place in nature. While living in Galway, I performed with Galway Early Music as a flutist.
In the last several years, I published articles on the topics of Edward Lear’s travel literature, Irish copyright, Nabokov’s publishing history, and Russian-Western relations.
In August of 2022 I accepted a faculty library position at Purdue Fort Wayne, where I am serving as Reference and Instruction Librarian, Liaison to the College of Liberal Arts, and Coordinator of Government Documents.
