Gary Steffen is the Interim Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science at Purdue University Fort Wayne. He is also an Associate Professor and the Director of the School of Polytechnic. Steffen has spent 10 years serving in academic leadership roles prior to his naming as the first Director of the School of Polytechnic in 2018. He is the past recipient of the PFW ETCS Excellence in Teaching Award, the Indiana Council for Continuing Education Faculty Member of the Year Award, and the ASEE Frederick J. Berger Award, recognizing exemplary contributions in education. He shares his passion for teaching by serving on multiple campus teaching committees and in leadership with the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Nationally, Steffen served on the ASEE Board of Directors (BOD) Sections Zone II Chair [2015-2018] and subsequently as the Vice President of Member Affairs [2018-2020] where he undertook activities to revitalize connection to campus representatives. On the BOD, he served on the executive, long range planning, budgetary, diversity committees and chaired the Campus Representatives Taskforce. Steffen is a 2022-2023 candidate for ASEE President-Elect.
