Jessica Vachon
Lecturer in Web Design
Department of Art and Design
Web technology and new media have always been a passion for Jessy Vachon. At the age of 13, she taught herself HTML to build websites in the 1990s. Initially, she pursued a B.S. in Computer Science but realized her preference for design and user experience while creating the graphic user interfaces for her Java programs. She completed a B.F.A. in Computer Art from IPFW in Fall 2010. In her post-graduate life, Jessy worked as both a lead designer for Navistar, Inc. and taught web design classes for Purdue University Fort Wayne. While working for Navistar paid the bills, she found her calling in teaching.
Wanting to pursue teaching as a full-time career, Jessy enrolled in the M.F.A. in Web Design and New Media program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. She completed her M.F.A. in the Spring of 2016 as one of the top students in her class.
Jessy's greatest strength is the diversity of her abilities. While focusing on web design, user experience, and front-end web development, she has also dabbled in motion graphics, programming, video, and illustration. Jessy believes in continuous learning so that she can be the best resource and asset to her students.
