Professor Kessler is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics/Finance. He is also Director of the Center for Economic Education at PFW. He received the Master of Arts in Economics Education and Entrepreneurship from the University of Delaware in 2007 and a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Arizona State University. He joined the faculty of the Doermer School of Business in 2006.
For the Department of Economics and Finance, Mr. Kessler teaches the ECON20000 - Fundamentals of Economics, ECON10100 - Survey of Economic Issues and Problems, and BUS26000 - Personal Finance courses to undergraduate students and a graduate course called Energy, Economics, and the Environment. As Director of the Center for Economic Education, he presents workshops to K-12 teachers around the country to help them integrate economics into their classes.
Mr. Kessler works as a consultant for a variety of businesses in Fort Wayne, Chicago, and Phoenix. He is also an adjunct scholar for the Indiana Policy Review and has served as an economics education consultant for the Arizona Council for Economic Education, the Stavros Center for Economic Education at Florida State University, the National Academy Foundation, and the Foundation for Teaching Economics - where he is also a mentor teacher. He has served as the Chief Academic Officer for Certell, Inc. and was a reviewer for the National Science Foundation publication Economic Investigations and NCEE publication Focus: Understanding Economics In U.S. History.
Mr. Kessler is a member of the National Association of Economics Educators, Association of Private Enterprise Educators, and the Foundation for Teaching Economics' Professional Teachers Association. He has presented at many meetings including the Association of Private Enterprise Educators, Hillsdale Free Market Forum, National Council on Economic Education, Arizona Council for the Social Studies, Arizona Society of Economics Teachers, Jumpstart Coalition, MBAA International, and many workshops locally and around the United States. Mr. Kessler has also served as a board member for the Arizona Council for the Social Studies, Arizona Society of Economics Teachers, and the MBAA International Academy of Business Economics.
Mr. Kessler is proud to have received the Peter V. Harrington Award for University Centers as the best economics education center in Indiana in 2010 and 2012.
Mr. Kessler's life experiences have been varied. He has been a trumpet player in the 1st Marine Division Band, a non-commissioned officer in the USMC, a transportation director, a substitute teacher, a marathon runner, a writing consultant, a liaison for Senator John McCain, a track coach, a jeep tour guide, a singing bellhop, a security guard, a rock star, and is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. Mr. Kessler is also a proud lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
