Dr. Wei Luo is an Associate Professor of Communication at Purdue University Fort Wayne. Dr. Luo's research explores the intersecting issues of gender, class, ethnicity, and sexuality within the confluence of global and local cultures. Her most recent publications have two new focuses: 1) examining the use of visual protest repertoires and the construction of health identity in the social movements during the COVID-19 pandemic; and 2) analyzing representations of homoeroticism and the literary texts’ disruptive potential for queer worldmaking in Chinese danmei web series. Her scholarly works have appeared, in addition to her book chapters, in reputable journals such as Women’s Studies in Communication, Feminist Media Studies, Visual Communication, Women’s Studies International Forum, Asian Women, Leisure Studies, and Gazette: The International Journal for Communication Studies.
