Let the Mastodon Spirit Inspire You

Welcome to the Herd!

As a new Mastodon, you’re learning the lay of the land, meeting fellow students in the Herd, and discovering all the ways you can have a successful college experience—academically and socially. New Students Programs is here to make this journey a little easier.

New Student Orientation

It’s all about the Mastodon way.

Your life as a Mastodon starts with New Student Orientation. Learn about the transition to college. Discover all the services and support you now have access to. Take part in one-on-one advising. Schedule your first semester of classes. We offer lots of options, too, from overnight experiences to online orientations, you’ll find a session that’s perfect for you.

Mastodon Immersions

Let’s hang out.

After you attend orientation, you’ll be able to sign up for Mastodon Immersions, events designed to help you meet fellow Mastodons. We have a number of experiences—which are free and completely optional—planned for you.

Mastodon Immersions will take place in August and September 2023.

Additional information about Mastodon Immersions will be shared at New Student Orientation. Want to be sure you don’t miss out on the fun? Click the button below to select the immersions you would be interested in, and we will connect with you in the summer with more information.

Campus Kickoff

Fun events and activities. Giveaways and souvenirs. Plenty of tasty treats. Campus Kickoff is the time for our Mastodons to start the new academic year off right and celebrate new and old faces on campus.

Check out the Events Calendar for Campus Kickoff days to see what we have planned.

Student Success Coaches

We can’t wait to meet you.

Our student success coaches serve as an initial point of contact for you and your family during your adjustment and transition to Purdue Fort Wayne. You’ll get the chance to meet your coach during New Student Orientation. Throughout your first year, they’ll continue to reach out and provide opportunities to connect. You’re a Mastodon now, and you’re never alone in the Herd.
