Anthem/Parkview Contract Negotiations Update

July 28, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

For those of you who currently utilize Parkview providers and services as part of an “in-network” option through our Purdue health plan, we appreciate the significance the outcome of these negotiations may have on you and your families. Despite a deadline of 11:59 p.m. today, we remain hopeful that a new contract between Parkview and Anthem will be reached. We learned earlier today that discussions are still underway and a new proposal has been presented.

To prepare for the different possible outcomes, appropriate communications spelling out next steps are being drafted for our campus community.

Should Parkview become an out-of-network option, there will be a communication for plan members that is focused on instructions for completing the continuity of care form and links to resources for locating in-network providers. Additionally, together with Cynthia Springer, associate vice chancellor for HR-OIE, I have been in several conversations with key leaders at Anthem, Parkview, and Purdue West Lafayette to explore what, if any, additional options are available should Parkview shift to out-of-network status if an agreement is not reached.

If there is a new contract, an announcement to that effect will also be shared with the campus community.

An appropriate update will be sent as soon as we know the outcome of the negotiations.

Sincerely,

Ron Elsenbaumer
Chancellor
