Service Appreciation Payments Recognize Faculty and Staff Commitment
November 16, 2021
Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday and break, I am writing to share some good news with you.
The executive team and I firmly believe in the importance of recognizing and rewarding our outstanding workforce, especially during these challenging times. In recognition and celebration of your extraordinary service, commitment, and accomplishments on behalf of our students this year, I am pleased to announce that Purdue Fort Wayne faculty and staff will receive a one-time service appreciation payment of up to $1,200 in their upcoming pay.
All full-time faculty and staff hired before October 1, 2021, are eligible to receive a service appreciation payment. Part-time faculty and staff will receive a prorated payment based on their percentage of full-time equivalence (FTE). Anyone hired after January 1, 2021, will receive a prorated payment based on FTE and length of service in 2021.
Additionally, Limited Term Lecturers (LTLs) will receive a service appreciation payment prorated based on their FTE teaching status for 2021. Those teaching for the spring 2021 semester are eligible to receive a prorated payment up to $600. And those teaching for the fall 2021 semester are also eligible to receive a prorated payment up to $600. Those LTLs teaching both semesters are eligible to receive up to the full $1,200, prorated based on their percentage of FTE.
Graduate students, temporary employees, and student employees are not eligible to receive a payment.
Taxes will be withheld according to regular withholding instructions. The payment will appear in paychecks as follows:
• Monthly Paid Faculty, Staff, and LTLs—Service appreciation payment will be paid on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
• Biweekly Paid Staff—Service appreciation payment will be paid on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
If you have questions, please review the Summary Guidelines or contact Kirk Tolliver, payroll director, via email at [email protected].
Thank you for the work you have done—and continue to do—to support our university’s mission. Your service and dedication are essential to ensuring that our students thrive and succeed. Please know that your efforts are deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ron Elsenbaumer
Chancellor
