Warm Wishes for a Well-Deserved Winter Break

December 16, 2021

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As we wrap up our fall semester and students are completing their final exams, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on a very successful fall semester and to wish you a peaceful and restful winter break.

I am so proud of all of you. Even as we continue to face the challenges of the pandemic, your enthusiasm and creativity continue to be an inspiration. It has been so gratifying to see how our campus community has continued to adapt and excel—becoming stronger in the process.

I am especially impressed by the resilience of our students, who have remained so focused on their academics while also enjoying the traditional college experiences they richly deserve. We know this hasn’t been easy, and we applaud you for your strength and your grace. We’re here to support you in every way possible as you continue toward earning your Purdue degree.

As we conclude this year, we are also sobered by the fact that many in our university community have experienced firsthand the impact of the pandemic. Each day, I hear heartbreaking stories about members of our community who are suffering and grieving. I hope we will all pause to remember students, faculty, and staff who have experienced illness and loss this year.

As we recharge during the winter break, please note that Purdue Fort Wayne will resume campus operations on a normal schedule beginning Monday, January 3. Spring semester classes will begin Monday, January 10. There are no changes to the academic calendar for spring, meaning spring break will occur as scheduled, March 7-13, and final exams will begin the week of May 2.

Should there be any emergency information that needs to be communicated over the winter break, you will be notified through official campus communications channels, including email and social media. The PFW Ready website will always contain current information regarding all aspects of the university’s operations and protocols.

I extend a heartfelt thanks to all of you who have worked so hard this fall to ensure an exceptional academic and campus experience for our students. I wish each of you a wonderful holiday season as we look forward to a spring semester and a new year filled with hope, joy, and success.

Sincerely,

Ron Elsenbaumer
