Anthropology Club Lunchtime Lecture Series Presents: Andrew Hakes of the History Department

Join us as Professor Andrew Hakes from the History Department talks about the process of undertaking research in a Master’s program and his research topic. Covered will be the difficulty of choosing a research topic, the ethics involved in writing about living subjects and different countries, representation and national identity, and how 18th-century European racialism came to affect thought in Mexico.José Vasconcelos’ La raza cósmica (The Cosmic Race) will form a large portion of the discussion, as well as an examination of modern-day discussions of racism in Mexico and what has influenced them.
