Cabaret Panel Discussion on Kristallnacht Anniversary
Neff Hall
Members of the Cabaret creative team will join Steve Carr, Director of the PFW Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, for a discussion regarding the musical’s continued relevance in our modern world.
Hosted by the PFW Department of Theatre and the Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies in partnership with the College of Visual and Performing Arts DEI committee, the presentation will take place on the 86th anniversary of Kristallnact - a night of terror against Jewish people and the destruction of synagogues, homes and businesses in 1938 Germany.
Cabaret, set in 1930 Berlin during the Nazi rise to power, debuted on Broadway in 1966 and is currently back on Broadway today. The musical sets in stark contrast the joie de vivre of a society enjoying a flourishing arts, science, and inclusivity scene, with the creep of fascism. The creative team will share insights into their approach to this production, the relevance of which never seems to wane.

Neff Hall Auditorium Room 101
