Employee Fitness Class: Chair Yoga

Athletics Center Fitness Studio

Join health coach Lindsay Bloom for a new fitness class being offered in February—chair yoga.

Chair yoga is basically traditional yoga using the support of a chair. Chair yoga is helpful for people who sit for long periods of time or who struggle with stiffness, tense muscles, musculoskeletal pain, balance, or movement challenges.

This low-impact exercise accommodates all body types, ability levels, ages, and more.

No registration required; just meet at the Fitness Studio.

Employee Fitness Class

February's Employee Fitness event for faculty and staff features an in-person 30-minute chair yoga class at the Athletic Center Fitness Studio. Chair yoga can provide the same benefits as regular yoga.

Benefits:

  • Increases flexibility and strength.
  • Improves balance, mood, and energy.
  • Helps you refocus and relieve tense muscles.
  • Can be done at work or at home with the appropriate chair.
  • Keeps you focused on the present moment.

Tips:

  • Use a chair that doesn't have wheels or arm rests.
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • Incorporate chair yoga into your daily routine for an overall body workout.

Visit the Employee Well-being web site for other upcoming events for faculty and staff.
