Guest Artist Margaret Bohls - Ceramics Exhibition

Visual Arts Building

Margaret Bohls, associate professor of Ceramics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, makes hand-built pottery and vessel forms inspired and informed by the history of ceramics and the decorative arts. Her current work, entitled “Italian Studies,” is based on an examination of several types of ancient ceramics produced on the Italian peninsula. These coil-built objects reflect her interest in the ways in which form embodies idea, evokes emotion, reinforces cultural identity, or expresses narrative. The harlequin-esque surface patterns are reminiscent of surfaces seen on European ceramics produced during the Modernist era and reflect Bohls’ interest in the Art Deco movement.
