Queer Berlin in The Weimar Republic & Queer Canon Screening: Cabaret ('72)

Walb Student Union, Room 215

Join us for a special presentation from German Studies student, Kendra Murray on the topic of Gay Berlin and Queer Spaces during the Weimar Republic. Germany, and Berlin in particular, led the world in sexual and gender liberation and expression before Hitler's Third Reich plagued the once queer capitol. Q&A to follow.

Then, its time for a queer canon film classic centered directly on the same topic--winner of 8 Academy Awards/Oscars: Cabaret (1972), featuring Best Actress winner and queer icon, Liza Minnelli! The presentation starts a 4 PM followed by the film screening at 5 PM. Don't miss this fun, educational, and enlightening historic discussion and moment in cinema!
