Engineers Week Model Bridge Building Contest

The 34th annual Engineers Week Bridge Building Contest took place Saturday on the campus of Purdue University Fort Wayne.  The event tested the strength of more than 50 bridges built by area middle and high school students.

Participants were asked to design the lightest possible bridge to span a gap with minimal deflection, and what they built was loaded until failure. The bridge with the highest load-to-weight x deflection ratio won the primary competition.
