Fort Wayne Police officers demonstrate emergency vehicle driving training

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) are training this week and next on a basic skills driving course on the campus of Purdue Fort Wayne.

FWPD officers are required by the state of Indiana to complete two hours each year, one in a classroom setting with a book course. The second hour, to be complete with hands on training inside a vehicle. This year, the department is training on the Emergency Vehicle Operation Course or EVOC where officers work on the three components of driving; awareness, space management, and collision avoidance.
