PFW experts working to find new standard for Allen County fire protection

Allen County’s commissioners for years have wanted to consolidate five fire departments into a countywide district but still aren’t sure what that looks like. They’re now investing more than $45,000 for guidance.

The Purdue University Fort Wayne Engineering Division is working on a study to determine the best process and most crucial factors to consider.

David Cochran is the director of PFW’s Center of Excellence in Systems Engineering. He, along with the center’s associate director, is working with officials to determine options to provide the best fire protection outside of the Fort Wayne and New Haven city limits.
