PFW faculty visit Mazovian State University in Poland to discuss partnership

Shannon Bischoff and Mary Encabo Bischoff—both members of the faculty in the Department of English and Linguistics—visited Fort Wayne’s sister city in Plock, Poland, in May to discuss a possible partnership between PFW and Mazovian State University.

During their visit, they observed a nursing practicum and bilingual class for student-teachers, spoke with university leaders and faculty about potential student and faculty exchanges, and learned about the future direction of MSU. In addition, they learned more about the refugee situation in Poland and how the country is responding to the crisis in Ukraine.

Fort Wayne Sister Cities International and Purdue Fort Wayne signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019 to foster more exchanges with our sister cities and work toward a consortium of universities. Mary is the current president of FWSCI.

Students who are interested in going to Poland to study abroad should be on the lookout for upcoming exchange opportunities.
