Purdue Fort Wayne students discuss genocide amid International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The Holocaust is over, but that doesn't mean a tragedy like this can't happen again.

Students and faculty engaged in conversation at the school on Thursday in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Dr. Jeanine Ntihirageza is the author of Silencing Genocide in Africa and African Diaspora.

She says genocide still happens in parts of Africa and just it doesn't happen here doesn't mean we shouldn't care.

"We don't live in isolation. The world is getting more and more global. If the more we know about each other as a human, as a humanity the more we support each other. The more we isolate ourselves and ignore some people, then the more we divided and the more we fail," Dr. Ntihirageza said.
