Omnibus speaker Marcus Collins

News Release

Tickets for Marcus Collins Omnibus presentation available today at 1:30 p.m.

Purdue University Fort Wayne’s popular Omnibus Speaker Series will celebrate a milestone on Feb. 27 when marketing guru Marcus Collins steps onto the Auer Performance Hall stage at 7:30 p.m.

Collins, a leading cultural scholar, award-winning marketer, and University of Michigan professor, will be the 150th speaker in the series, which started in 1995.

Collins has worked with brands like Apple, Nike, Beyoncé, McDonald’s, and Anheuser-Busch. During his career, he has developed culturally contagious ideas that inspire people to take action. His work focuses on the impact of culture and the power that comes from having great cultural proximity.

During his public appearance at Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 27, Collins will explore various themes addressed in his best-selling book, “For the Culture: The Power Behind What We Buy, What We Do, and Who We Want to Be.” It examines the influence of culture on consumption and unpacks how everyone from marketers to activists can leverage culture to encourage people to take action. Throughout the book, Collins relies on literature, case studies, his work with brands, and academic data to illustrate the whys and hows so that readers will be empowered to successfully apply these insights.

Tickets will be released today at 1:30 p.m. They are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis through the Schatzlein Box Office or PFW’s online ticketing platform. A $1.50 convenience charge is assessed per ticket for online orders, with a limit of four tickets per person.

For anyone wanting to get tickets to the show in person, the box office is open Tuesday-Friday from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Reserved online tickets can be sent to patrons via text message or email. These digital options are helpful to avoid standing at the box office the night of the show. Tickets can also be picked up in person beginning one hour before the presentation.

The Omnibus Speaker Series at Purdue Fort Wayne is made possible in part due to the support of the English-Bonter-Mitchell Foundation, which has sponsored every season.
