Environmental Resources Center establishes sustainable landscaping master plan
Bruce Kingsbury, director of the Environmental Resources Center on the Purdue Fort Wayne campus, is looking forward to implementing a sustainable landscaping master plan for the grounds around the Center.
“Now that we’ve started to get our footing in terms of functional and useable space for the interior of the ERC, we’re now turning our focus to the exterior and landscaping efforts around our building,” said Kingsbury.
With support from Facilities Management and Engineering Resources, a few brainstorming sessions with ERC associates have resulted in the development of the Center’s master plan.
“It will include pollinator gardens, rain gardens, reclaimed water features with a dry creek bed, river access, water catchment systems, and multiple educational display areas with gathering opportunities throughout the site,” explained Kingsbury.
The plan will be implemented in phases by the staff and volunteers of the Center as funding and opportunities present themselves.
