Make your mark during Purdue Fort Wayne's Day of Giving
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Purdue University Fort Wayne’s Day of Giving is April 28. It's a chance to give a gift of opportunity, a gift of hope, a gift of a better future to a student.
For 2021, the university’s third annual Day of Giving is focusing on helping its students who have been negatively impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic achieve their dreams of graduating from college.
“Like thousands of others across the country, many of our students must work part or full-time jobs in order to afford going to college. Unfortunately, a lot of those part-time jobs disappeared during the pandemic,” said Ruth Stone, vice chancellor for development and alumni relations. “We’re focusing the donations we receive this year on scholarships to help those students continue their journeys toward graduation.”
For some Purdue Fort Wayne students, the challenge was too great, and they had to step away from their higher education pathway.
Chancellor Ronald L. Elsenbaumer knows how a donation of any amount can make a difference. “More than ever before, universities depend on private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. These financial investments in Purdue For Wayne help fund student scholarships, academic programs, campus infrastructure, and other critical initiatives.”
Donations will also help students who had to step out resume their journeys as they prepare to be the next generation of highly educated and workplace-ready employees and business leaders. With 85% of Purdue Fort Wayne’s graduates remaining in northeast Indiana, those donations will also fuel the regional economy, making life better for everyone.
