PFW and Indiana National Guard announce 2019 Leadership Impact Awards

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Purdue University Fort Wayne and the Indiana National Guard are proud to announce the recipients of the 2019 Leadership Impact Awards. The ten individuals who are receiving this honor include students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the university.

These awards began three years ago, when the Indiana National Guard partnered with Purdue Fort Wayne to expand the scope of the Leadership Development Program to ensure opportunities for formal and informal leadership development experiences. This partnership enhances the university’s vision to be recognized for a transformative learning environment characterized by intensive mentoring, excellence in faculty scholarship and knowledge creation, integration of life and work experiences, and community engagement.

Student Honorees:
Taha Alibhai, sophomore, majoring in Mechanical Engineering
Brianna Rider, junior, majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders
Emily Baumgartner, senior, majoring in Human Services
Emoghene Ottah, Master’s in Technology
Kurt Chelius, Master’s in Business Administration
Lewis Ostermeyer, senior, majoring in Physics

Faculty and Staff Honorees:
Eric Tippmann, Assistant Professor, Chemistry
James Velez, Assistant Director, Academic Liaison and Community Engagement, Admissions

Alumni Community Honorees:
Justin Hayes, A. S. in Business, Business Administration, 2012; B. S. in Business, Finance, 2014; and a Certificate in Bank Management, 2014
Jade Kelsey, A. S. in Organizational Leadership, 2007; B. S. in Organizational Leadership, 2008; and M. S. in Organizational Leadership, 2011

This year’s honorees will be recognized at an awards dinner, Wednesday, May 1, at the Steel Dynamics Keith E. Busse Alumni Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
