PFW Engineering programs now ranked among the top 20 percent in the country
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The Civil, Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering undergraduate programs at Purdue University Fort Wayne are now rated number 38 in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s latest rankings of college programs at schools where no Ph.Ds are offered. That’s a jump up from the program’s earlier classification as 45th.
“Our engineering faculty and staff have been working diligently to provide the best educational experience for our students,” says Nash Younis, chair and professor of mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science. “We have improved our curriculums, enhanced our laboratories, and established a strong relationship with the industry. As a result, our engineering programs have moved up seven places. This is the third year in a row of progress, and it puts the Purdue Fort Wayne engineering programs in the top 20 percent of ranked engineering programs in our category. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of the engineering faculty and staff. We are fiercely determined to continue our progress."
“I’m very proud of our faculty and staff for the progress they have already achieved in making these programs even better than they were,” says Purdue Fort Wayne Chancellor Ronald Elsenbaumer. “It’s great to see their hard work reflected in this new ranking, but it’s even better to see that students are recognizing their progress, too, in the increased enrollment numbers in those areas.”
According to Younis, enrollment figures for fall 2019 show 477 undergraduate students are majoring in either civil, mechanical, computer, or electrical engineering. That is the highest undergraduate enrollment in those majors since fall 2015.
