Purdue University Fort Wayne to Host Congressman Jim Banks Job Fair on August 8

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Third District Congressman Jim Banks, in conjunction with Purdue University Fort Wayne and WorkOne Northeast, is holding a job fair Wednesday, August 8, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Walb Union International Ballroom.

“One of my priorities in Congress is to support policies that grow our economy, empowering Hoosier businesses and workers to thrive,” says Banks, R-IN. “I’m excited to partner with Purdue University Fort Wayne and WorkOne Northeast for this year’s job fair to connect employers and employees throughout northeast Indiana. We had a great turnout last year and I look forward to another successful event.”

Representatives from 70 employers and employment agencies will be on campus with more than 2,500 jobs available to job seekers.

“We are thrilled to have all of these employers on campus,” says Purdue Fort Wayne Chancellor Ron Elsenbaumer. “As we continue to expand programs to meet the needs of businesses in northeast Indiana, this gives students and alumni direct access to the jobs they have been educated for.”

Purdue Fort Wayne will be among at least seven colleges and universities at the fair offering information about educational opportunities.

Interview training and résumé assistance will also be available during the job fair. WorkOne Northeast will offer job seekers help in learning how to create a good impression with a potential employer, highlight relevant personal experiences and qualifications, and develop contacts to build a professional network.

“WorkOne Northeast is excited to be part of an event that aims to both prepare individuals for the 21st century workforce and meet the growing demands of northeast Indiana’s employers,” says Edmond O’Neal, president of Northeast Indiana Works, which oversees the region’s WorkOne career centers.

The job fair and training opportunities are free and open to the public.

Both events will take place at Purdue Fort Wayne, located at 2101 East Coliseum Boulevard, in Walb Student Union (marked as such on the campus map) in the center of campus. Tables will be set up in the International Ballroom. Parking is available in Parking Garage 2 (P2), located near Walb Union.

There are still a few spots left for employers interested in recruiting for open jobs at the fair. There is no cost to be an exhibitor. If you are interested please complete this online registration.
