Tapestry Parkview Endowment announces 12 recipients of $72,000 in scholarships

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Students at both Purdue University Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne received scholarships totaling $72,000 today at Tapestry. The scholarship program, which began 18 years ago, along with Tapestry, has been expanded to include programs at both schools.

Since its inception in 2002, The Tapestry Parkview Endowment and Scholarship Funds have raised over $1 million, the Endowment has grown to over $600,000, and 101 students have received scholarships.

Today’s scholarship recipients are:

• Whitney Green, Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Tiffany Seeler, Bachelor of Science in Human Services
• Samantha Luick, Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Payton Elizabeth Pfeiffer, Bachelor of Science in Human Services
• Luis Felipe Rodriguez Perez, Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Emily Anderson, Bachelor of Science in Human Services
• Elaina McMullin, Bachelor of Science in Psychology
• Dedra Leffers, Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging
• Lauren Ashley Hampton, Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders

In addition to learning who received the Tapestry Parkview scholarships and announcing the scholarship recipients, the 1,660 attendees heard from award-winning news anchor, reporter, and author Elizabeth Vargas as their keynote speaker this afternoon.

Vargas has covered news stories and conducted interviews around the world. She is also the author of the bestselling book Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction, which chronicles her struggles with anxiety and alcohol and her healing and coping process. Vargas currently hosts A&E Investigates.

Earlier in the day, Sue Ehinger, Ph.D., was recognized as the 2019 Linda L. Ruffolo Award honoree. She has a passion for community service, and currently serves on the boards of the Rescue Mission, United Way of Allen County, Embassy Foundation, Brightpoint, and the Olin and Desta Schwab Foundation. Eighner was a founding member of the Tapestry Parkview Endowment and Scholarship Foundation in 2002, and has supported the event ever since.

She retired in January as the chief experience officer of Parkview Health after more than 25 years with the organization. Her various roles included serving as president of Parkview Hospital and Affiliates during the construction of Parkview Regional Medical Center.

In addition to the scholarship and keynote presentations, guests enjoyed a morning filled with breakout sessions featuring topics such as personal success, beauty and fashion, interior design, savvy shopping, women’s health issues, and how to pair the right wines with appetizers, entrees, and desserts featuring chocolate.

Throughout the day, guests were able to browse and shop at 170 boutique and sponsor booths featuring jewelry, clothing, candles, skin care, and everything in-between.

Total attendance topped 2,100 when registered guests, booth personnel, and other volunteers were combined.
