Driven by Facts and Data

The Community Research Institute in the Doermer School of Business is dedicated to solving problems that make a difference in our community.

It takes informed decisions.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Community Research Institute helps leaders in northeast Indiana and beyond make informed decisions. We do this through contract-based research and analytical services that answer questions with facts and data, not speculation and anecdote. This may come in the form of detailed reports, presentations to various audiences, economic commentary to the public, or spreadsheets and lists that can be formatted to the client’s specifications. The institute serves clients in the public and private sectors, including nonprofit organizations.

Data

So much data. What’s it all mean?

We live in the age of numbers, but it can be difficult to know where to find those sources or have the capacity to process it. That’s where the Community Research Institute comes in. We know where to find the relevant information, and then help you make sense of it. It may come in the form of federal databases, state-level information, or proprietary sources. Or we may just pick up the phone and talk to a person when that information isn’t online. Sometimes the answers are found in meetings, interviews, or focus groups.

It doesn’t stop with finding the numbers. You need context to know how they fit together or compare to the same information at the local, state, or national levels. When you engage the institute, you not only get the ability to find the information, but you also get the ability to understand it.

Honest Information Brokers

We tell it how it is.

The Community Research Institute has developed a reputation as honest information brokers over the years. If you want a consultant to give you a desired answer, we may not be the right fit. We present our clients with the information as we find it—good and bad—not as they wish it would be. These conversations may be difficult or awkward, but ultimately they help leaders make informed decisions.
