Teaching Fellow Services
If you would like confidential support to enhance your teaching in face-to-face, online, or hybrid settings, our Teaching Fellows are ready to help! Teaching Fellows are PFW faculty members who have been trained to provide teaching consultation services using a model of collegial, formative peer review.
Formative Peer Review
Formative peer review focuses on the enhancement of teaching and learning. These confidential consultation services are driven by your teaching goals and tailored to meet your individual needs and interests. Teaching Fellows offer the following formative peer review services:
- Classroom observation
- Review of instructional materials and activities
- Syllabus review
- Small Group Instructional Diagnostic (SGID)
- Assessment of student learning
- Analysis of student feedback and evaluation data
To request a Teaching Fellow consultation, please complete the Teaching Consultation Request Form.
Online Course Design Review
Teaching Fellows can also provide formative peer review of online courses. Our Fellows have been trained in Quality Matters™, a nationally recognized, faculty-driven peer-review process for online and hybrid course design. Fellows use CELT's Online Course Design Standards [PDF] to provide formative, confidential feedback.
To self-assess your online course, download our Online Course Review Readiness Checklist [PDF].

Recognition for Continuous Improvement of an Online Course
To receive this recognition, your course must undergo an Online Course Design Review with the CELT Teaching Fellows. As part of the review, your reviewer will help you prepare an Action Plan for making changes that enhance your online course. After implementing this Action Plan, you can apply for recognition of continuous improvement of your online course. Approved applicants will receive a $250 stipend.
*Note: Recipients of the Online Course Design Grant are not eligible for this recognition for the same course.
Become a Teaching Fellow
CELT Fellows play a crucial role in supporting PFW faculty through collegial formative peer reviews. Recognized for their excellence in teaching and respected as colleagues, CELT Fellows leverage their experience, relational trust, situational awareness, and discretion during consultations.
The CELT Fellow role is distinguished by its rarity in finding individuals who embody these qualities. It's an honor earned through an application process designed to understand your interest in becoming a teaching fellow, your beliefs about teaching and learning, and evidence of your effectiveness as an instructor. The CELT Fellow role is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the university by providing valuable feedback to colleagues. Applicants must have at least three years of teaching experience before applying.
Please begin by reading our program description, then complete our online application.
