Your Advisor

The advising experience.

The student-advisor relationship is the foundation of the Purdue Fort Wayne advising experience. You’ll have a dedicated advisor who serves as a point person in a coordinated system to support your success. Your assigned advisor will work closely with faculty in your major and student support units across the university, including financial aid, conduct and care, career development, and tutoring, to help direct in academic success and overall well-being.

Academic notice

Is your GPA below 2.0?

You’ll be notified, and a note will be added to your academic record, if you are placed on academic probation. This can occur if your GPA, during the fall or spring semester, falls below 2.0 or if your cumulative GPA at the end of any fall or spring semester is less than a 2.0. While on academic probation, the following rules apply:

  • If your cumulative GPA is less than 2.0 but your semester GPA is greater than or equal to 2.0, you will remain on probation.
  • If you are on academic probation and your semester GPA is less than 2.0 but your cumulative GPA is greater than or equal to 2.0, you will remain on probation.
  • Your academic standing will not be assessed in summer sessions.
  • You will be removed from probation at the end of the first subsequent fall or spring semester in which your semester and cumulative GPA are greater than or equal to 2.0.

To appeal an academic-probation standing, contact the academic department for your major.
