What We Do
Keeping Culture Alive
Join the African Students Association to learn about the diversity found in the African culture. Part of the African Students Association’s goal is to support students from Africa, giving them a safe and comfortable environment to share and talk with other students of African descent.
- Educate all people about the diversity in the African culture and include everyone in this learning process
- Create an opportunity for students of African descent to socialize and interact in a relaxed environment
- Encourage and enhance awareness about African issues, cultures, and values
- Create opportunities for members from the African continent to understand each other and their different backgrounds
- Be a strong part of a local network and regional groups active in addressing Africa issues
- Provide support for new international students with their transition into the university
- Provide student members with an environment conductive to successful completion of their academic objectives at Purdue Fort Wayne
Section I: Qualifications
- Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at Purdue Fort Wayne and only those members may vote, hold office, and represent the organization and university in an official capacity.
- The minimum membership requirement is eight members.
- Membership and participation shall be free from discrimination and harassment per the policies of the Purdue Fort Wayne Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct as stated in Part I, Section A, Items 3 and 4.
Section II: Types of Membership
- Voting membership is open to all students currently enrolled in at least 1 credit hour at Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Nonvoting memberships may be held by faculty, staff, alumni, non–Purdue Fort Wayne students, or community members.
