What We Do
Find your voice.
Join the space that welcomes, celebrates, and encourages, and inspires our Black students at PFW.
- Explore the heritage and culture of African Americans as a means of clarifying our self-image and enhancing self-esteem
- Assist in the educational process of all students
- Provide a common cultural base designed to foster unity and a spirit of community
- Encourage and support the accomplishment of high academic standard by our members
- Facilitate the development of more coalitions among campus groups and the increased involvement of students of color
Section I: Qualifications
- Membership and participation shall be free from discrimination and harassment per the
polices of the Purdue Fort Wayne Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct as stated in Part 1 Section A, Items 3 and 4. - Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students of Purdue Fort Wayne and only those members may vote, hold office, and represent the organization or university in an official capacity.
- Nonstudent membership (nonvoting) shall be open to interested members of the community.
- The club must contain eight active members to constitute as an organization.
Section II: Status
- A current list of members shall be maintained by the secretary.
- An individual member shall retain active membership until such time as the person no longer matriculates at the university or fails to comply with the stated requirements and standards of this organization.
- Duties of the members
- Attend a minimum of three meetings
- Uphold the constitution
- Participate in meetings
- Maintain a nondiscriminatory policy
- Reasons for revoking membership
- A student is academically dismissed from the university
- A student is found in violation of Responsibilities and Conduct (See Purdue Fort Wayne Student Handbook)
Section III: Dues
- Dues are $5 per semester for regular members
- Dues are $6 per semester for associate (non-Purdue Fort Wayne students) members.
