What We Do

Promoting Academic Excellence

We promote academic excellence; foster innovation and problem solving; connect students with industry leaders, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and build a community of scholars.

The purposes and objectives of this organization are:

  1. Promote Academic Excellence: Encourage members to strive for and maintain high academic standards through mentorship, guidance, and collaborative learning opportunities.
  2. Foster Innovation and Problem-Solving: Organize events such as hackathons, workshops, and competitions to provide hands-on experiences that challenge members' creativity and technical skills.
  3. Increase Participation in the Honors Program: Increase awareness and participation in the Honors Program at Purdue University Fort Wayne, encouraging students to engage with the opportunities it offers.
  4. Connect Students with Industry Leaders: Arrange guest lectures, networking events, and partnerships with industry professionals to provide insight into real-world applications of academic pursuits.
  5. Encourage Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Facilitate opportunities for students from various disciplines to collaborate on projects, fostering diverse perspectives and cross-disciplinary learning.
  6. Build a Community of Scholars: Create a supportive network of high-achieving students who can share resources, experiences, and motivation, contributing to the success of every member.
  7. Collaborate with Similar Clubs: Actively seek partnerships with other student organizations that share the goal of academic excellence to broaden the club’s impact and create more diverse opportunities for members.

Section I. Qualification:

  1. Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at Purdue Fort Wayne and only those members may vote, hold office, and represent the organization/university in an official capacity.
  2. The minimum membership requirement is eight members.
  3. Membership and participation shall be free from discrimination and harassment per the policies of the Purdue Fort Wayne Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct as stated in Part I, Section A, Items 3 and 4.

Section II. Types of Membership

  1. Voting Membership shall be open to all students enrolled at Purdue Fort Wayne and shall be obtained by submitting an application to the Secretary.  The application and all procedures pertaining thereto shall be established and periodically reviewed by the membership.
  2. Non-voting memberships may be held by faculty, staff, alumni, non-Purdue Fort Wayne students, or community members. All events, functions, and activities undertaken by Honors Student Group shall be open to nonvoting members unless specified in advance as outlined by the procedures established for such purpose.

Section III. Financial Obligation

All dues associated with this organization will be based on any workshop, competition resources, or similar fees that arise. No student will be required to pay any fees unless they have explicitly acknowledged that they are willing to contribute to the cost of the resources. The secretary will be responsible for managing and organizing such activities.
