What We Do
Breaking down Social Barriers
We want to provide support, to bring students together, and to embrace customs, traditions, and values.
- Make the Purdue University Fort Wayne University community aware of our international cultures by means of:
- Eliminating any social barriers
- Expanding our relations with the university body and the community
- Maintaining our customs, traditions, and values within the society
- Expending and educating our culture throughout the community
- Provide the members at Purdue Fort Wayne with an opportunity of expression by means of:
- Sponsored cultural, educational, sport, and social volunteer activities
- Introducing and welcoming all new members into our international community
- Assisting new students in adjusting to the university community
- Facilitating, mentoring, tutoring, and assisting students experiencing difficulties on- and off-campus
Section I: Qualifications
- Membership in this organization is open to all Purdue Fort Wayne students and may include a limited number of nonstudents.
- Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students at Purdue Fort Wayne and only those members may vote, hold office, and represent the organization or university in an official capacity.
- The minimum membership requirement is eight members.
- Membership and participation shall be free from discrimination and harassment per the policies of the Purdue Fort Wayne Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct as stated in Part I, Section A, Items 3 and 4.
- Honorary membership shall be awarded by the president only with the approval of the executive committee and consent of the director of International Students Services.
Section II: Membership
- Voting membership is open to all students currently enrolled in at least 3 credit hours at Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Nonstudent memberships may be held by faculty, staff, alumni, or community members.
- All members will be on a probationary period of one semester.
- All members shall have all privileges.
- Each member shall be responsible for:
- Abiding by and respecting the constitution, bylaws
and procedures - Promoting
harmonious relationship with organization members and the university community - Regular attendance of activities of the organization
- Representing this organization on campus and in the community
- Sharing knowledge of their respective culture with other students
- Abiding by and respecting the constitution, bylaws
Section III: Financial Obligation
- Dues will be collected each academic semester to enhance and improve the goals and purposes of the organization.
- Dues will be determined by the executive board, and may not surpass $5 per semester.
- They should be paid by the third week of every semester (no exceptions).
