What We Do
Beyond the classroom.
Learn more about the physical world with other students at Purdue Fort Wayne in the Society of Physics Students.
- Encourage and assists students interested in physics to develop the knowledge, competence, enthusiasm, and social responsibility that are essential to the advancement of physics
- Stimulate interest in advance study and research in physics
- Develop collegiality among physics students and faculty members
- Promote public interest in physics
- Provide liaison between students and the member societies of the American Institute of Physics
Section I: Qualifications
- Membership is open to all currently enrolled Purdue Fort Wayne students and may include a limited number of nonstudents.
- Fifty-one percent of the total membership must be currently enrolled students of Purdue Fort Wayne and only those members may vote, hold office, and represent the organization/university in an official capacity.
- Membership and participation shall be free from discrimination and harassment per the policies of the Purdue Fort Wayne Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct as stated in Part I, Section A, Items 3 and 4.
- The minimum membership requirement is eight members.
Section II: Types of Membership
- Membership is open to all currently enrolled Purdue Fort Wayne students and may include a limited number of nonstudents.
- Nonstudent membership shall be open to faculty and professional staff.
Section III: Financial Obligation
- There are no financial obligations to students who wish to be in the local chapter; however, anyone wishing to obtain national membership and national recognition in local chapters and conferences must pay those financial obligations specified by the national chapter.
