What we stand for.

Our mission is to provide a quality business education to meet the higher-education needs of northeast Indiana. We offer business programs that enrich professional knowledge, problem-solving, global awareness, communication, and ethical reasoning skills of students from the northeast Indiana region and beyond. The school strives to produce quality intellectual contributions that primarily focus on management practice and learning pedagogy.

The Richard T. Doermer School of Business sees itself becoming a leading urban regional business school with national recognition.

Excellence in student learning, teaching, intellectual contributions, and service are all fundamental to the achievement of our mission and the preparation of students for successful careers in northeast Indiana and beyond. The following core values shall serve to guide the planning and actions of the faculty and staff of the Doermer School of Business:

The Doermer School of Business is committed to ensuring that all business students receive the highest quality education at Purdue Fort Wayne.

The overall purpose of the Business Leadership Advisory Council is to provide a business perspective for the strategic direction of the Doermer School of Business and to serve as a sounding board for its plans and programs. More specifically, the Business Leadership Advisory Council will

  • serve as an advocate for the school and its programs to the community,
  • provide feedback from the community to the school that would enable the school to improve its programs and more effectively meet the needs of the community and the northeast Indiana regional economy,
  • provide an independent and unbiased review of the school’s current programs and future plans, and
  • facilitate contacts with influential people in business and nonprofit organizations for the mutual benefit of the school and outside firms or organizations.

Regional Economic Development

Working to support the area business environment.

At Doermer, we work on three goals to fulfill our mission (to strive for excellence in business education and to support regional economic development):

  • Curriculum: Improve our undergraduate and graduate business curricula consistent with changes in the business environment.
  • Faculty and Staff Development: Recruit, develop, and retain faculty and staff who continuously improve the teaching, intellectual contribution, and service effectiveness of the Doermer School of Business. Enhance professional faculty interaction with external constituents including service to professional and regional business communities.

  • External Relationships: Build and strengthen relationships that facilitate the exchange of knowledge with the business community, professional organizations, and other constituents, in order to support regional economic growth.
