Tuition Assistance
What you need to know.
Applying for Tuition Assistance (TA) must be completed no later than seven days before the class start date. This is a strict deadline with no exceptions. We can not guarantee assistance payment as promised by the US Army; if your TA is rejected, the balance on your account will remain a student debt. Any delays in processing is subjective to your circumstances and/or state or federal processing times.
If you have questions about your tuition bill, please contact the Office of the Bursar at [email protected]. Our staff is available for questions about processing times and deadlines, though it is your responsibility to know the deadlines set forth by the US armed forces for any education benefits.
TA is a DoD funded tuition aid program for most eligible current servicemembers. Each branch of the service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application process and restrictions. Please reach out to your branch specific Education Service Officer or Career Counselor to determine your eligibility and what steps you need to take if you wish to seek our this benefit.
Purdue Fort Wayne currently accepts Army, Air Force, and Navy TA. Please speak with your educational representative within your branch for more specific information.
Your tuition assistance payments cover only your tuition—any other costs or overage is your responsibility. TA covers 100 percent of tuition for up to 16 credit hours, not to exceed $250 per credit hour (for a total of up to $4,000 per fiscal year).
Note: It is the responsibility of the student to make payment arrangements with the Office of the Bursar for the additional amount owed.
The steps to completing starting the process of our Tuition Assistance Request (TAR) are below:

- Navy, visit the Navy College Program.
- For all others, please communicate with the education office within your branch of service for further instruction.
- When your Military TA is approved, please communicate with our Military Student Services office to turn in your completed TAR. Anticipated credits will be applied to your account so you are not held responsible for any payment or late fees associated with what TA will cover.
- If payment is not made the sponsor’s credit will be removed from the student account, a hold will be placed on the student’s record, and it will become the responsibility of the student to pay. In order to resolve any issues, the student will be notified of the removal of the tuition credit.
