Basswood
Description
A close relative of the European linden, and sometimes referred to as the American linden. Fragrant flower clusters attract a wide range of pollinating insects, and are especially attractive to honey bees. A nitrogen-demanding species, it grows poorly on nitrogen-deficient sites. Leaves are heart shaped, with an asymetrical base.
