Black Ash
Description
Black ash is found in northern swampy woodlands and seasonally flooded areas. It is tolerant of a wide range of pH. The leaves have 7 to 11 stalkless leaflets. The emerald ash borer, now in Indiana and accidentally introduced from Asia, is an insect lethal to all native ash species, and the potential for destruction of native ash trees rivals that of Dutch elm disease on the American elm.
