Black Hickory

Description
Black hickory is a small tree (20–30 feet in height) that grows in dry upland soils. The leaves are compound, with five to seven leaflets whose parts are covered with rust-colored pubescence, as are the young buds. In Indiana, it is a rare tree in only a few locations in the southwestern counties.
