Black Oak

Description
A common, midsized tree of the red oak type. It resembles a scarlet oak, except the inner bark is yellow and bitter. Leaves are glossy on top, with five to nine pointed, bristle-tipped lobes. Its acorns are often striated and enclosed one-third to one-half inch in a deep, bowl-like cap.
