Boxelder

Description
Boxelder is the most widely distributed of North American maples. Most commonly found on moist soils, it is also drought tolerant and can aggressively colonize “disturbed” sites. Its growth is extremely fast when young; the result is weak wood that breaks easily. The tree is usually short-lived. Winged brown paired seeds hang from branches of female trees long into winter.
