Northern Pin Oak

Description
A red oak type with yellowish inner bark. Its acorns are yellowish and very bitter. The cup-shaped cap encloses one-third to one-half of the acorn. Its leaves have five to seven bristle-tipped lobes. Its lower branches droop. In Indiana, this tree is found only in the north. The northern pin oak is very similar to the pin oak, though it is not susceptible to chlorosis in high pH soils.
