Red Mulberry
Description
Often confused with the more common but introduced white mulberry, Morus alba, which has leaves that are smooth and shiny, and some of its polymorphic leaves are lobed. Red mulberry leaves are sandpapery and dull, large (three to eight inches long), and toothed. Fruits ripen to dark purple, are sweet, and relished by birds.
