River Birch

Description
Naturally grows in moist soil along streams and in bottomlands. Trunks of young trees are shiny and peeling, and vary in color from silvery gray to cinnamon brown. Frequently planted in clumps as an ornamental. Tolerant of highly acid soils, but under drought conditions, inner leaves will turn yellow and fall, even in midsummer.
