Shellbark Hickory
Description
The bark of the trunk is shaggy like shagbark hickory, with long, vertical, flat, loose plates of bark, but its leaves have seven leaflets, and nuts are the largest of all hickories and have a thick husk. The shellbark hickory grows in moister areas than other hickories, growing in bottomland and moist upland sites.
