Showy Mountainash

Mountainash tree

Description

A small tree (up to 30 feet tall), it has white flowers and orange-to-red fruit that is eaten by many species of birds. Its leaves have 13 to 17 leaflets. The winter buds are sticky. Possibly the hardiest of mountainash, which grow in the United States. Always rare in Indiana, the showy mountainash’s native tree was found in Pokagon State Park, but has since died.
