Shumard Oak

Description
Shumard oak is a red oak type, with glossy leaves above that have five to nine bristle-tipped lobes. A thick, shallow cup encloses about one-fourth of the acorn. The buds are sharply pointed, and that bud scales appear waxed. The shumard oak is one of the largest southern red oaks.
