Silver Maple

Description
Leaves are silvery beneath, with a rather delicate appearance. It tolerates a wide range of soils but is naturally found only in wet or moist places along stream banks and lake edges. The silver maple is good tree for poor soils, and a fast grower, but the wood is weak and brittle. Swelling spring buds are an important source of food for squirrels.
