Sugarberry

Sugarberry tree

Description

Sugarberry bark is generally smooth like American beech but may be irregularly covered with wart-like ridges. In Indiana, it is found only in the south, in low wet areas in clay. The sweet-tasting fruit is orange red to blue black and is readily eaten by birds. Leaves are glossy.
